Observed behaviour

Join voice button can still be pressed, however you will timeout and not be able to join. NB: related to #2897

Reproduction steps

Have a friend join a channel that you can view but do not have connection permission.
Open a users mini-profile or profile (can click on their name in the Friends list, clicking on their name in a channel)
