Problem
Often if you join a lot of different communities. Then at some point you may start getting friend request from people who wanna just try to scam you, sell you AI art etc.
In between these people could be few of them which do not have malicious intentions. And usually you need to start conversation with them. To know who they are or look at their bio. And it can be kinda mess if you need to check every bio, you will delete like 30 and in few days you have another 36 friend requests.
Proposed solution
My proposed solution is to add option which can be turned on. Instead of fully turning off friend request. There should be option which let user turn on mandatory reason for friend request.
After turning this on, every person sending friend request to you. Could be greeted with popup question "Reason for friend request". That small box limited only to 130 or 150 letters, should ignore empty spaces.
So if someone tries to bypass it and hold spacebar. It should not pick it as real message. And seeing friend request with writen reason for adding. Makes filtering friend requests little bit faster and easier.
Notes (optional)
On discord i am getting friend request where someone or bot just press button "Send friend request" and i need to scan every profile or waste my time and try to start conversation. Because i do not see any message from them.
This feature is not magic thing which will solve everything but it is definitely small detail which makes filtering friend requests easier. One solution is turn off friend requests completely but then i will forget to turn it on.
And seeing friend request where as reason is written something like "I met you in the Shopping mall yesterday" Or "It's me, Luigi, i use different name here" makes visual sorting easier.
