Linux Mint: Microphone audio is replaced with loud beeping

Summary

When I voice chat with anybody or use mic test, the only sound detected and transmitted is a very loud beeping sound. Please view attached video.

Steps to reproduce

Attempt to transmit or monitor mic audio.

Environment (optional)

Linux Mint 22.3 MATE using Pipewire. Have tried different microphones with the same result.
