Initial loading screen doesn't progress until text is pressed

(#4349) Bug Open: Fix pending Priority: P1 accessibility mobile ui

Reproduction steps

  1. Open the app with reduced motion enabled
  2. Wait whilst the initial app loading screen would normally progress.
  3. After a few seconds, the loading screen will not progress.
  4. Tap on "fluxer.com" which will then pass the loading screen in to the main app interface.

Expected behaviour

Loading screen is present whilst loading but clears after booting correctly.

Actual behaviour

Screen remains on the loading screen indefinitely.

Status changed from Needs triage to Needs info
Hi instead of retyping the version info as you did here, could you tap it and paste those contents instead? The copied version gives some more info than what's initially visible (esp. device type) which would likely be helpful for this bug report. You can just edit the original report with that info. Thanks!

I apologise; I was on my PC and not my phone. Added in a new comment.

Posting this as a bounty. It is likely this issue is specific to certain settings or possibly even device/manufacturer-specific. If anyone else is able to reproduce this issue please let us know!

  1. get stuck on the loading screen
  1. METHOD 1:
    1. tap on the instance switcher button
    2. leave the modal
  1. METHOD 2:

Expected behaviour the app boots in instantly Actual behaviour requires a network disconnect first (it seems like)

I'm struggling to follow how you get the app stuck on the loading screen in the first place. I have tried disabling all networking before launching the app, and also disconnecting networking mid-launch, but even if I wait for like 2-3 minutes before re-enabling network the app resumes launching just fine. Can you explain in more detail how you got this state to occur?

Both Tempest and I have a Samsung. What device are you using? EDIT update: Both "CNR"s above used a Pixel. Also interestingly @Elias my app says build 817 instead of 2817? Installed from Google Play Store

Pixel 9a. The other CNR's are also Pixels. I'm hoping for one more person to reproduce this with device info. If it's a Samsung or Huawei that pretty much cements that this may be a device-specific issue.

Does this happen every time you launch the app? Or did you have to set up some conditions to get the app to hang?
Comment by DitherDude
Every close-and-relaunch. Nothing special, but if left open in the background this doesnt happen.

@Fullest I dont know, but I've re-recorded with logcat side-by-side, something about invaid ID 0x1?

I have captured a complete device log when I replicate this issue, more than happy to privately share with a Fluxer team member. Note to self: ~/fluxer.logcat

Thanks @Jiralite , it appears this issue has to do with reducing motion in system accessibility settings/disabling animations and transitions in OS debug settings. @Hydra and @tempest:squll.fartcore.ai do you have these settings enabled??
