Current problem
There's no official support for VR headsets yet. I sideloaded the Android OSS build (UnifiedPush) on my Meta Quest 3 and most of it already works fine: the UI scales well and the controllers work as touch for tapping, scrolling and navigating. A couple of things get in the way though:
- Mic doesn't work in voice calls. I can join a voice channel but my mic isn't picked up, so nobody can hear me.
- No way back from a voice channel. When I join a voice channel in a community, the call screen hides the channel list and there's no back button inside the app. The only way out is the system Back button at the bottom of the Horizon OS window. DM calls do have a back button. Meta's guidelines ask 2D apps to have their own back button since there's no back gesture on Quest.

Official support for Meta Quest as a 2D app, and eventually a release on the Meta Horizon Store (publishing 2D Android apps there is free). From what I've looked into, it's mostly build config rather than new features:
- Build it from the existing OSS / UnifiedPush flavor, since Quest has no Google Play Services
- Remove the things Meta doesn't accept from that build, like the phone call permissions and service that come with the CallKit plugin, and the Play Billing permission
- Add Meta's manifest entries (
com.oculus.supportedDevicesand a default window size) so it opens as a proper resizable panel - Fix the two issues above: a back button on the voice call screen, and mic capture

Additional information
I'm happy to test every new mobile build on my Quest 3 and report back. I'm keeping notes and test results in the VR Support thread in Fluxer Labs: https://web.canary.fluxer.app/channels/1519773906704011264/1563548324131254272
