Fund anti-predator sting operations instead of age verification

(#1086) Feature Shipped moderation

Problem

In theory, this platform is vulnerable to developing the same sort of dark child-molesting underbelly as Discord and Roblox.

Proposed solution

Dedicate a small fraction of revenue (Maybe 0.5%?) to funding anti-predator sting operations on Fluxer (what Schlep was doing on Roblox before the pedos banned him is a good example). Such sting operations are effective at catching predators, while also being highly unlikely to snare anyone remotely decent, and not requiring the collection of identifying information. In addition, it being known that Fluxer funds sting operations on the platform will deter a subset of sexual predators from joining. Basically, to actually protect kids, just... go after the people who want to hurt kids.

hey there, Hampus said it was okay to share this. This is one of his posts from the visionaries server, posted on 2026-03-04:
I'm also currently onboarding one of Discord's former privacy & safety folks, as a contractor. She was extremely impressed by the level of detail in Fluxer's legal and trust and safety infrastructure, how comprehensive the admin panel is, and the tools already in place for handling reports, abuse, CSAM, and more. She was also one of the leading figures behind taking down a notorious pedophile network.
Trust and safety is paramount to the longevity of this hosted instance. This instance being alive and well is currently what funds working on the product, and by definition, everything required for self-hosting, federation and more. We're already seeing some people doing bad things, and we can't have that.
Just sharing since that server's visibility is fairly limited.
