This has been decided and is almost finished. Voice and video calls will have required end-to-end encryption using DAVE, the protocol Discord built for encrypted calls. It runs on Fluxer's new in-house SFU and call client, which replace LiveKit and WebRTC entirely.
Messages are covered too: personal notes, DMs and group DMs will get required end-to-end encryption built on MLS. See E2EE for DMs beyond secret chats.
