Bot proxy/webhook profile pictures not showing up properly

Observed behaviour

Fishing Bucket bot has profile picture URL saved and the profile picture works in some servers, but in others shows with a default Fluxer profile picture.

Reproduction steps

  1. Go into a server
  2. Use a proxy with Fishing Bucket or another webhook bot
  3. Sometimes, the profile picture will not show

Build information

Canary Desktop 2026.920.144552, Web 2026.928.110125, Linux 7.2.5-1-cachyos (x64), Electron 44.4.1, Chrome 152.0.7977.78, Node 24.21.0, Locale en-US

Status changed from Fixed to Won't fix
Staff explained this is expected caching when the avatar host is unreachable, so no fix was made. It is marked as working as intended.

As of writing this, it appears to fix itself after a little while, but I figured it'd be prudent to report anyways.

This will happen if the host serving the avatar URL is temporarily unavailable and we'll cache the failure for a little while before it starts working again, matching these symptoms. Since remote websites' reachability is outside of our control, this is working as intended at this time. Thanks for the report!
