Render Twemoji inside custom status text

(#1428) Feature Under consideration emoji profiles

Observed behaviour

Selected emojis for the status and an emojis in the status text are not consistent. Namely, the picked emoji is slightly offset upwards (by about a pixel) and it has the Fluxer emoji style, while the emoji inside the text uses the system emoji style. It would be nicer, if the emojis were perfectly aligned. And it might make sense to use the same emoji style, but that's really up to you and it might be a design choice.

Reproduction steps

  1. Click on your profile in the bottom right
  2. Set a status
  3. Set the emoji to the 💿 emoji
  4. Set the status text to the 💿 emoji
  5. Observe the inconsistencies

Since Unicode emojis don't get parsed into Twemoji inside of the custom status text, this is somewhat expected behaviour. This is what it looks like on macOS, for reference: image And this is what it looks like on another chat app: image Rendering Twemoji inside of custom status text would be a feature request for now, so I'm converting this to a discussion!
