Tray icon missing in the Flatpak build

Observed behaviour

So tray icon is broken in flatpak due to how electron asks for org.freedesktop.StatusNotifierItem-<pid>-<id> (org.freedesktop.StatusNotifierItem-2-1 for almost all flatpak apps) and it can not be shared between apps. This was in a recent electron build and been broken for a while, I have been using a hacky solution to get around this (faking pid) but it breaks the screen sharing portal. If you may update electron to v44.3.0 or newer (this is the oldest version with fix) it could help.

Reproduction steps

  1. Build flatpak without pid shim (give dbus session talk too just to avoid permission issue)
  2. Open another electron app from flatpak (Eg signal)
  3. Open fluxer and there is no tray icon

Build information

Canary Desktop 2026.913.210056, Electron 44.1.1, Chrome 152.0.7977.65
