Observed behaviour
Not really sure if this is intentional or not but
FLUXER_NATS_AUTH_TOKEN env variable is only used by gateway component (judging by GitHub search)
It will make other containers relying on NATS connection to simply get rejected because they fail authorization as they have no logic to parse this auth token from env. It may be something that's a leftover from the past or maybe something that was thought about at some point but then it was long forgotten, dunno. Seems to have flew under the radar so just raising awareness, discovered it while messing around with throwing up my own quadlet for Podman.
Mostly informant issue for Hampus and other contributors. I know it's not used in normal self-hosted deployment but it's something that I've seen people run into long time ago before there was an official way of deploying Fluxer, so it exists at least since April 2026. If I were to suggest something, NATS supports TLS certificates just like Postgres so that may be more worthwhile to implement instead if desired.Reproduction steps
There are none but adding that variable and setting it to a value will make containers relying on NATS to exit as they can't authorize against NATS anymore. Gateway seems to connect fine, didn't look into it too deeply though.
