Minimise to tray

(#918) Feature Shipped desktop

Problem

Currently, closing the desktop app (on Windows and Linux) fully closes it.

Proposed solution

A system tray icon is added when the app is running, which displays a badge when there are unread notifications. An option is added in settings to keep the app running as only the tray icon when all windows are closed ("minimise to tray").

PR's are currently closed, so waiting for that to open again
I believe it's because of the huge refactor going on. You may have to change a thing or two in your implementation once the refactor finishes and is merged.

Big dealbreaker for me right now is the lack of tray minimization!

I would love this feature. It's almost a deal breaker not to have it.

this would be great to have, especially when you're used to key-bindings and you accidentally close the application while on a call!

This has been built into v2 and will be available when we launch
is there a package or some way to test out this v2 client ahead of launch? is it the default branch on the repo? i could compile and see.

v2 is currently limited to Visionaries (early donors to the project). The repo is currently private but it should get released soon!
