Running a selfbot stops the client from receiving inbound DM events
Summary
When a userbot is active, it appears as if the userbot 'consumes' the inbound DM messages, and a client (in my case, the latest browser Canary) will therefore 'miss' the incoming events.
NOTE: I specifically said "inbound DM message events"; see the table below:
Event
Received
Load past messages
1
Send messages
View sent messages
View self-edited messages
2
View received messages
Receive friend request
Typing indicator
---
None of the above defined behaviour happens in guilds; guilds remain sane. A refresh "fixes" this; see the first item in the table.
1This was only tested on a single screen, of messages, i.e. there were not enough messages in the history for the past messages to be batched
2When an image link is sent, the Fluxer server edits the message to add the image embed. Since this is an inbound event, the client still shows a link instead of the image.
Steps to reproduce
Start a self-bot
Have someone DM you.
Nothing in the client. clicking off/back on does nothing. Sending a message does not send a force state refresh.
DM accumulates to just outbound messages appearing.
Environment
Canary Web 2026.605.11941, Linux (x86), Chrome 149.0.0.0, Locale en-US
