Can't invite a bot twice and authorize new permissions

(#718) Bug Needs triage api

Summary

I invited my bot on my server. My bot didn't have any permissions. I created a new invite link with permissions and I have an error message.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a bot.
  2. Create an invite link without permissions for the bot.
  3. Use this link to invite the bot on a server.
  4. Create another invite link with permission Manage Messages this time.
  5. Use this new link to invite the bot on the same server.
  6. You get this error: Authorization Failed; This bot is already in the community.
  7. The permissions aren't updated.

did you try just kicking the bot and then inviting it again?

Isn't the intended way to do this to just adjust the permissions directly, in the automatically created role for the bot? I imagine that to be easier than re-inviting it as well

Yes, but for a user that doesn't know which permission should be added, it's complicated. Unlike Flexer, Discord invite link is able to update bot permissions.
