[PWA] slowdown when transitioning between channels, communities, and DMs

Summary

When clicking the back button in the top left to switch between channels in a community, as well as switching between communities, or switching to DMs, the PWA takes a while to switch to the new page. The slowdown can take anywhere between 5-10 seconds and touch inputs do not work until after the transition is completed. This causes the app to feel laggy.

Steps to reproduce

Switch between channels, communities, or go into the DM selector and notice a slow down.

Environment (optional)

The slowdown occurs on a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 as well as a Pixel 3a. The slowdown does not occur with a Pixel 7a. (midrange / older devices could be exacerbating the slowdown?)
