Enabling two-factor authentication fails with "invalid code" at the password step

Summary

Everything works until it very clearly asks for my PASSWORD to confirm, and nothing else, only to tell me "invalid code" Inputting anything else to test (including trying to input the 2factor code again) does nothing.
