Using Shift + Pg Up doesn't jump to the oldest unread message

(#4674) Bug Closed: Fixed Priority: P2 desktop messaging ui

Reproduction steps

e.g. I have a channel I havent looked at for 3 days and have way over 100+ new messages that are unread:
  1. Open the channel
  2. Press Shift+PgUp

Expected behaviour

The app would jump to the first message that is unread, in my case above, to the date where I have last read messages with the channel open

Actual behaviour

It only jumps to the current oldest loaded/chunked message and reloads the next oldest message after that see video

Status changed from Needs triage to Confirmed
CR: Canary Desktop 2026.1106.11354, Web 2026.1106.11354, Linux 7.2.15-200.fc44.x86_64 (x64), Electron 44.10.0, Chrome 152.0.7977.169, Node 24.22.1, Locale en-GB Easy way to reproduce this is:
  1. Go to any text channel with a lot of messages
  2. Scroll up a lot (maybe ~500 messages or so?)
  3. Right click on a message and mark unread
  4. Switch to another channel
  5. Ctrl+R to refresh
  6. Go back to the channel where you marked something unread
  7. Try Shift+PgUp

Man, those are much better steps for reproduction than the ones I listed. Thank you 🙏🏼

I had to find a way that didn't involve waiting a few days 😅
