(#4667) Feature Open: Under consideration

Current problem

When looking at the badges, I can piece together what each of them are for. The Visionary badge is for those who purchased the visionary pass earlier in the year. Operator is the same but for the recently launched operator pass. The one badge I've been able to find that is achieve able through some task is the bug hunter badge, but I haven't been able to find how to get it if I wanted to. Do I upload a bunch of high value bugs on the feedback page or do I complete bug bounties? This is the one badge, but what about in self-hosted instances that may have different badges?

Proposed change

For those that require it, with the instance owner's discretion, launch a pop up within Fluxer displaying the contents of an .md file. This can be used to explain how to achieve a badge, commemorate how a badge was achieved if it was a one time thing, or anything else the instance owner wishes so long as it's following Fluxer's community guidelines. ------------------------

How

Because it's already possible to be redirected to different web pages by clicking on badges, the target could be set to something like fluxer://badge_def/badge_1.md where an instance owner can write anything about the badge for display. We could go one step further an have a live preview text editor so instance owners can write up and see exactly how things are going to be displayed once the file has been created.

Use Case

In the event of a instance hosted game-jam, a part of the reward of winning could be a badge on a user's profile. The details page can quickly, or in detail if the instance owner really wanted, go over the game-jam and write about the user's game. For a badge that's actively achievable, the pop up page could be a set of instructions on how to obtain the badge if one desired. Got a badge by catching all 151 gen 1 Pokemon through a discord in a text chat? The pop up page can explain the purpose of the badge and how to get it, including the bot commands to get started. The pop up page could also describe a faction if a system similar to Discord, but hopefully actually interesting, was attempted. Faction one could be cool, calm and collected. Faction two could be a blaze of fire passion. etc. etc. Maybe include the ability to YouTube embeds if videos were made long side an instance wide community event like this?
