Mouse back and forward buttons don't work on Linux

Reproduction steps

Navigate through a few text channels
Press the back/forward button on your mouse

Expected behaviour

I expected the back/forward buttons to work, navigating to the previous channel when you press back, or moving back forward if you press forward after pressing back. Pressing Alt+<- or Alt+-> still work as expected.

Actual behaviour

The back/forward buttons don't seem to do anything. This is possibly the same bug as 3077, but this behavior only got introduced very recently so I think it has a different source. I suspect something related to one of the fixes for middle click behavior might have caused this, as the timing lines up.
