Prevent blocked users from seeing blocker's messages

(#4415) Feature Open: Under consideration messaging privacy

Current problem

Blocked users can see messages from blockers, which can lead to a blocked user seeing messages the blocker doesn't want them to see. This is a common complain on other platforms also, if someone wants to send messages but doesn't want someone they blocked to see them, they have no choice but to either find another community (which might not have their friends) or privately message their friends (only works if 1 friend only). Blocked users being able to read blocker's messages also makes some users uncomfortable, since users usually want to send messages only to people they like/are neutral with.

Proposed change

Blocked users can't see messages from blockers unless the blocked user has moderation permissions, is owner or is in a server position where seeing messages is important (should also that this is server dependent, someone who is blocked and a mod on a server but not another can only see messages in the first server). Blocked users attempting to read blocker's messages without proper access could count as privacy breach and warrant punishment (up to implementers/maintainers to decide).

Additional information

Some alternatives ideas I came up with that could be their own requests:
  • Blacklisting messages/parts of messages from certain members
  • Opposite of before (Only certain members can see your message)
  • Messages only friends can see

It would be nice if this could be a setting that the user could toggle, i.e. "prevent blocked users from seeing your messages".

Personally, I don't think this is a good idea. I've known people on Discord who used the Vencord plugin to completely hide blocked users forget they have that on and ask about context they couldn't see because of a blocked user. It is by all measures an objectively bad UX. However by popular demand, we now have that baked into Fluxer. At the very least, the only person one can blame for this is themselves, since they enabled the setting. However, this feature request would allow someone to offensively use this against others without their consent. I don't think this is a good idea, and is likely to only help breed toxic environments.
