Current problem
P2P calls have been working well for me. However, enabling “P2P calls only” makes the channel restrictive: users cannot join when the P2P participant limit is reached or if they decline IP sharing consent, and there is no automatic fallback to a standard call.
Because of this, I leave “P2P calls only” disabled and have to teach users to right-click the channel and select “Start P2P call” to reduce server bandwidth and hosting costs.
Proposed change
Add an option to prefer P2P automatically for community voice channels and group calls, with seamless fallback to standard calling when P2P is unavailable or its participant limit would be exceeded.
Of course respecting each user’s IP sharing consent
