Ring to Call

Current problem

Currently, when in a call in (private or group) DMs or a server's voice channel, we have no way of grabbing the attention and inviting other users who are not in the call to join it. A few examples include:
  1. Being in a voice channel in a server with some people, and trying to add some more to the call, such as when gathering a group for an activity.
  2. Calling a person back into a group DM call after they left to let some people finish a conversation they started inside the call.
  3. Attempting to call a person again in a private DM.
I understand that at least in DMs, this functionality can be replicated by simply leaving the call and calling once again, however I believe it is a small and useful QoL feature for use in DMs. Either way, this feature's primary use would be in servers, where you can't make a call to ring people to a voice channel. Additionally, sending a message to catch someone's attention can often lead to spam, and I personally mute text messages in many servers and DMs, so having the ability to grab my attention like how a call does seems very useful to me.

Proposed change

I propose adding a new action to the right-click context menu that is shown on every user. It may be called Ring to Call and as the name suggests, it will ring that person to whatever DM or voice channel the user is currently in.

Platform

macOS, Windows, Linux, Web, Android, iOS

Additional information

This feature exists in Discord's DMs and used to exist in Discord's servers (guilds) but has been removed at some point. From the little research I did on the subject, the removal seems to have been motivated by concerns over spamming and transforming voice channels into intrusive calls rather than drop-in social spaces, however that can be remedied easily by simply making the feature off by default in servers. Although I can understand these concerns, they are only really valid in large servers, and I'm primarily looking to use this feature in small social circle / niche topic servers where everyone mostly knows everyone else.
