Local speaking indicator is inconsistent with what remote participants see

Reproduction steps

Join a voice channel with at least one other user. Be in an environment with background noise. Enable the built-in noise filter. Observe your own speaking indicator, then ask the other user what they see for your avatar.

Observed behaviour

In a voice call, my own speaking indicator behaves differently on my client than on other participants’ clients. Because the built-in noise suppression/filters don’t fully remove my background noise, my local speaking indicator stays lit frequently. However, on remote participants’ clients, my indicator is not lit during those same moments. Despite this, they can still clearly hear the noise. So there are two problems: The local indicator and the remote indicator disagree about whether I’m “speaking”. Audio that is audible to others isn’t reflected in the indicator they see, so the indicator can’t be trusted to tell whether someone is transmitting sound.
