Summary
I think may have uncovered a very interesting bug, regarding global and non-global notifications when joining / creating communities, here on Fluxer.
I recently created my YouTube Tech community, and invited one of my admins, after building and setting up my community with rules, bots, etc.
I normally like to have all messages turned on in my communities (including bot logs, so I'll know the instances that took place in my server—this is mostly due to my poor vision and having a desire to know what happens in the communities I own / run)
Regardless, when joining / creating a community, there is a strange, random bug that randomly places one or a few of your community's categories from the drop-down menu, nullifying any notifications to go through if your message settings are defaulted to
all messages.
My friend was able to reproduce this same issue, but with an entirely different category. Mine was with the category for my staff channels, and his was with the main area, where the general chat is.
After removing these categories from the drop-down menu in our respective clients, we were able to receive notifications in the respective categories (i.e. the staff category on my end, and the main area on my friend's end.) without issue.
This is randomly done when joining / creating communities, as each community one joins is going to be unique in structure.
Join / Create server
Right-mouse click community, and select "Notification settings"
Result:
Categories randomly added in notification override with unticked boxes. Note if boxes are ticked, notification alerts are till blocked.
I've had to remove the overridden categories in each of the communities I own or have joined.
Steps to reproduce
- Join or Create a Community
- Right-mouse click on Notification Settings
- In notification panel, categories randomly added to bypass notifications area without checkboxes.
Result: Blocked notifications from selected categories.
