Forced Attenuation (even on non-voice sounds)

Observed behaviour

My friend (on Windows 10 21H2) has Fluxer turn down the sound of every other app a lot whenever any audio, even the Fluxer notification sound plays. The only fix has been to open mmsys.cpl, go to Communications, turn ON attenuation, hit apply, then turn it back OFF again and hit apply. The problem comes back upon a system restart.

Reproduction steps

  1. Turn ON Attenuation (50/80%) in mmsys.cpl -> Communications.
  2. Observe attenuation.
  3. Turn it OFF (set to 'Do nothing').
  4. Restart Windows.
  5. Any sound that Fluxer plays causes other applications on the system to get really quiet until the audio session has been closed (for example several seconds after the notification sound from Fluxer has finished)
