Changing chat font size and spacing on desktop changes mobile too despite having Sync disabled on both ends

Observed behaviour

Whenever I change the Appearance > Messages settings on the desktop client, those changes affect the mobile app too, even though I have the Sync feature turned off on both. After doing some more testing before posting this, it seems that changing the settings on mobile can also affect the desktop client as well, but it's inconsistent and/or delayed? My expectation is that having Sync disabled would prevent something like this from happening, because why would I want the same text size on both clients when the screen size and viewing distance are so different.

Reproduction steps

  1. Change the Chat font size, Space between message group and/or Comfy or Dense settings on the desktop client.
  2. Observe the mobile client's settings change in real time.
