Selecting someone to ping after typing multiple characters results in leftovers

Observed behaviour

The text area results in @msubizo u. Instead of taking all of the search text for the ping, the app only substitutes part of the text. The number of characters varies per user. For example: @Fu -> @Fullest u @Full -> @Fullest ull @biz -> @bizo z

Reproduction steps

  1. Type @msu
  2. Select @mesub
