Attempting to scroll through unread messages causes a bunch of messages to get lost

Observed behaviour

Scrolling through messages skips in big chunks, possibly losing a day of messages in between.

Reproduction steps

Make sure you are not in #fluxer-discussions in Fluxer HQ on the mobile app.
On another platform (PWA / Desktop) jump to this message in Fluxer HQ: https://web.canary.fluxer.app/channels/1427764882469228556/1427764882469228559/1511843716808048640 (If you cannot, go to a channel in a community with a high volume of messages and scroll to message about a few days old)
Right click / long tap and mark as unread
On the mobile app, go to the channel #fluxer-discussions in HQ (or to the channel that you marked as unread)
Wait for the red horizontal NEW bar to appear in the chat.
Start scrolling down.
