Add activity-based sorting to the Discovery section

(#1391) Feature Under consideration community search

Current problem

Right now, the discovery section automatically sorts communities from highest to lowest by member count, which naturally highlights massive communities with thousands of members. While those big spaces are great, managing smaller or mid-sized communities (like 200-400 members) has shown me that smaller spaces often have a much higher density of daily chat and active engagement per capita. The issue is that tight, lively communities easily get buried under the giants simply because everything relies on that automatic member count order. It makes it hard for users looking for active, conversational spaces to stumble upon smaller hubs where things are genuinely happening.

Proposed change

Add a way to sort or filter communities by activity or engagement in the discovery section, rather than just automatically sorting by member count. It would be awesome to have a toggle or option to switch to a "Most Active" view (based on things like daily chat activity or active participants relative to size). That way, smaller or mid-sized communities that are actually alive get a fair chance to be discovered by people looking for real conversations.

Additional information

Just throwing this out there as a small-to-mid community admin who wants to see lively spaces get more visibility. Even a basic toggle or sorting option would help a ton so users aren't just funneled exclusively into the biggest communities by default. Open to hearing how others think this could work best!

This would help promote the platform to grow so much and keep users engaged! I've had many people I know not be able to find anybody to talk to on the app.

This specific change would help create a dynamic environment for servers that are growing and also popular ones. Activity should be taken into account.

I've been waiting for this since I started using Fluxer to be honest. In any community-based platform you can have a ton of servers that were popular at one point and have thousands of members but no longer have any activity, and you have to sift through them when you're first starting to use the app. Meanwhile, smaller communities with fewer total members but significantly more activity get buried and struggle to grow naturally through the discovery tab, and have to promote themselves with their own efforts. I feel like the platform itself should reward being active rather than for having an already huge and established community that doesn't need promotion. Also helps new members avoid communities with deceptively large member counts but very little activity. Would love to see this implemented.

Great idea, This would give smaller but active servers the visibility they deserve
