Markdown syntax for automatic unit and currency conversion

Problem

My friend group is split across several countries and we sometimes have to translate units of measurement and more rarely currency.

Proposal

Currently we have the time syntax, <t:UnixTimeHere:FormatHere>, which translates a unix timestamp to your local time. I would like to see this expanded upon, ie, <mi:30> (or whatever the syntax becomes) indicates a distance (miles) and then when displayed to the user, based on your language settings, this gets translated to the regional measurement, such as kilometers. So if your language is American English you get 30mi, but if your language is German or you get 48km. The same could be done for other major units of measurement, like temperature. An additional nice to have is if this same system could flip currencies, such as USD to GBP.
