Large avatar images under 10 MB fail with an invalid file extension error

(#13) Bug Fixed media profiles

Observed behaviour

  1. Profile will not save and will give an incorrect error.
Expected behaviour Image saves correctly, or correct error message is given (file resolution too large.) Instead of a "recommended" resolution, perhaps a maximum should be instituted.

Reproduction steps

  1. Go to your Profile and Change Avatar.
  2. Select a large resolution image file, such as a wallpaper. Ensure the image is of a valid file type and under the maximum size limit.
  3. Crop or do not crop, either way, save the image.
  4. Save your profile. You will receive the error that the Avatar image selected is not a valid file type.

Details

Summary

Using a very large image for the avatar and cropping down, even if it is under the 10MB size limit, will result in an error stating that the file extension is not valid (even if it is). Bringing the total size of the image down to being within recommended specs will eliminate this error.

This is known and due to the server lag issues occuring due to the huge influx of new users, an update is being worked on that should fix the lag. If you keep trying it should allow the picture to apply
