Problem
Currently, the Admin Panel only appears to support scheduled account deletion, with a minimum deletion period of 60 days.
While this may be appropriate for user-initiated account deletion, there are situations where an instance administrator may need to remove an account immediately. Examples include:
- Spam or abuse accounts
- Duplicate accounts created by mistake
- Test accounts used during development or administration
- Accounts that were registered incorrectly and need to be removed at the user's request
At the moment, the only workaround seems to be direct database manipulation. This is not ideal, as account management is already part of the Admin Panel and administrators should not need database access for routine administrative tasks.
For self-hosted instances in particular, immediate account removal can be a legitimate administrative requirement.
Proposal
Add an option in the Admin Panel that allows instance administrators to permanently delete a user account immediately.
Possible approaches:
- Add a dedicated "Delete Account" action alongside the existing account deletion scheduling feature.
- Require an additional confirmation step to prevent accidental deletion.
- Optionally display a warning explaining that the action is irreversible.
This would provide administrators with an official and supported method of removing accounts when necessary, without requiring direct database access.
Notes
After asking about this on the Fluxer development server, the suggested workaround was direct database deletion. However, since account management is already part of the Admin Panel, it would be beneficial to have an official and supported way to perform immediate account deletion through the administrative interface.
