Federation - Compatibility with other *cord alternatives

(#122) Feature Declined federation

Problem

Hi! Federation is on the roadmap, but right now it’s not clear if it will work with other open source projects like Spacebar, Stoat, or Sharkord. Without that, projects might end up staying separate and unable to communicate with each other.

Proposed solution

It would be nice if federation could be done in a way that allows other open source projects (like Spacebar, Stoat, Sharkord) to federate with Fluxer - kind of like how Mastodon can federate with Pleroma, Misskey, etc. This would probably require work from all sides, and if that’s unrealistic, feel free to close this request 😅

Idk anything about Spacebar and Sharkord, but isn't Stoat centralized? In order for Fluxer to federate with Stoat that'd have to be federated as well. Plus if it is federated it may not use the same protocol as Fluxer will

I do not believe any of the platforms you listed have any form of federation support The only way would be to log into user accounts for puppet bridging which is unsupported and prone to breakage, and even then would provide poor federation support I'd recommend closing this issue, as it's unlikely that the other parties would be willing to work on that given the complexity (especially SpaceBar as it's a reimplementation, not a new protocol)
