View server as role feature

(#1149) Feature Under consideration community

Problem

Discord has a feature when editing roles that lets you see the server how that role sees it which i find very useful when setting up roles.

Proposed solution

Add a similar feature.

Report details

Current problem

When configuring roles for a community, it is difficult to test them to ensure everything is in order; a second person is always needed to verify that all the permissions are correct.

Proposed change

This feature, which already exists on Discord, would be a huge help with role configuration, making it possible for just one person to handle setting up a community's roles. Within this function, it would be good to have the option to test more than one role at a time, to ensure there are no conflicts between roles.

+1 for that. Hard to know that you set the permissions right when you cant test them.

This would be a great feature to add. it's hard to make sure my server is setup when I can't give myself the same permissions as what im testing. so I can't make sure nothing is showing that's not supposed to. or a can't chat where I'm not supposed to. View server as role i feel is a requirement when making servers

Yup. Was missing this feature coming from discord. For now workaround would just be creating alternative account and playing with it.
