Do not host infrastructure in America

(#1013) Feature Under consideration infra privacy

Problem

The U.S. is increasingly becoming a surveillance state, ever since the cloud act passed years ago. The government is asking every company to give them their data, and using it to spy on everyone, world wide. SPECIALLY big hosting companies like google, aws, etc

Proposed solution

Do NOT host anything in the U.S. Not the website, nor the blog, nor the wiki, nor the voice servers. Host it in Canada and Mexico, but NOT in the U.S. Also use a CDN like bunny, which is european, instead of cloudflare.

Notes (optional)

Having 2 or 3 servers, on both Canada and Mexico, can easily cover for american users, while protecting the privacy of every other user globally.

Status changed from Shipped to Under consideration
This was marked shipped, but the closing note said infrastructure is hosted in the US. Nothing in the thread shows the request was carried out, so it is open again.

Host it in Canada and Mexico, but NOT in the U.S.
This is futile with the 'Cloud Act' as it requires companies to provide data over to the United States even if the content isn't hosted, used or operated in the United States. You are still also hamstrung by the global surveillance networks sharing intelligence (5 eyes, 9 eyes and 14 eyes). If the US wants it, they'll get it. This is why E2EE + Self-hosting is vital for the security and privacy of Fluxer. E2EE encryption should also employee various different encryption algorithms to prevent 3-letter-agencies from injecting backdoors into encryption standards, as well as offering PQC (Post-quantum cryptography) to prevent Harvest now, decrypt later strategies.

Incorrect. If a company isnt from the US and no servers are there, they have 0 ways to do anything. If you think any civilized nation is sharing data with the US anymore, just look how the UK kept information from the US during the Venezuela strikes and invasion So, simply put? Dont use google cloud, aws or microsoft azure. The world has THOUSANDS of cloud services, there is NO need to use american ones.

1) I won't dignify you with any more responses after this, as you clearly have no education and can't help but talk like an average redditor. 2) You said all companies give them data, then immediately give microsoft as an example. An american company. Further confirming what I said: Only companies from the US, and/or with servers in the US. 3) UK example of not sharing intel. 4) If you do agree with me, why are did you get extremely aggressive and defensive on the subject?
