Microphone test playback is distorted

(#47) Bug Awaiting confirmation voice

Summary

When trying to test my microphone in Audio & Video settings, the playback is distorted. I'd expect the mic test to work normally and not be distorted

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to "Audio & Video" settings
  2. Scroll down to "Mic Test"
  3. Click "Start Mic Test"
  4. Observe the playback is distorted

Status changed from Fixed to Awaiting confirmation
This was closed in a bulk cleanup before Fluxer V2 without being checked or fixed. It may work now, so it is waiting for someone to confirm whether the bug still happens.

Poked at this a little more, turning off automatic gain control helps but it appears that there's no way to adjust the microphone gain otherwise.

I've run into this issue and I've found turning off 'Echo Cancellation' stops this from happening for me.

I have the same issue, however the steps mentioned in the comments here didn't help. Environment is different so I am providing it below. Environment : stable build 84 (356bd53), 2026-03-06 03:57:38 UTC, Electron 39.2.7, Windows 10 10.0.19045 (x64), desktop stable 0.0.8

I tested several configurations, disabling various sound inputs and outputs on my computer. Nothing changed until I went back to the in-app settings, and changed the audio output, which solved the issue. For some reason, Fluxer is still using the same output as before (my headset) even though the sound is supposed to come out of the screen, even after restarting the software. This solved the echo, but not the chopping of the voice, which I resolved by disabling echo cancellation as mentioned by the author of this issue.
