Cannot reproduce Canary Desktop 2026.1026.22540, Web 2026.1027.182052, Linux 7.2.11-200.fc44.x86_64 (x64), Electron 44.9.1, Chrome 152.0.7977.167, Node 24.22.0, Locale en-US Maybe Windows-specific bug? Or maybe some other setting is involved?

Okay.. How exactly did you upload/download the files? I have tried uploading with drag&drop, copypaste, and using the + menu to add an attachment. I downloaded using both the download button in the audio embed, as well as right click -> open link (which opens in firefox, if that matters). I still have not been able to reproduce this issue unfortunately. I uploaded via pasting as well as using the + menu. Also downloaded by right-clicking and choosing Download audio as well as clicking the embedded download button. Same results regardless.

Sorry if i'm putting my nose in, but you may be uploading a type that Fluxer can't strip the metadata from. Based on my understanding of the code, it looks like AV stripping is best effort. Related to the feature request I just put in. https://feedback.fluxer.com/p/4439/ability-to-disable-image-metadata-stripping-per-guild-or-cha

oh yes, the filetype. I tried mp3's as well as wav's but could not reproduce the issue with either.

Digging a little more, it looks like this is a pretty recent change from 4 days ago: https://github.com/fluxerapp/fluxer/commit/f3d5bbfc63926265d45d723a0f6b57a8c5f924b1 and https://github.com/fluxerapp/fluxer/commit/824c38d49c1be879111d2154013e82a722544e88 are the ones that added this. I don't know what the main instance update schedule is like, but this may not be on the main instance yet if they aren't running the latest version.

I was able to reproduce on self-hosted, running 2026.1027. I made some test files that were manually tagged, uploaded them to a channel, then downloaded them. All of them got stripped to some degree. Note that this happens on the server, so the client version shouldn't matter here, but I'm using Linux, Stable Desktop 2026.1017.133957, Web 2026.1026.223737.

I don't think this is technically a bug though, I think it's the feature working as intended, which is why I put in the previously mentioned feature request because in some cases you want that data to be preserved.
