Fluxer Ignores Third Party Audio APOs

(#3055) Bug Open: Confirmed Priority: P2 desktop

Reproduction steps

  1. Setup Equalizer APO with RNNoise.
  2. Test microphone in Fluxer.

Observed behaviour

The RNNoise APO is entirely ignored and input audio is pulled straight from the hardware source ignoring any APOs in the middle.

Report details

Reproduction steps

  1. In App mic settings: All toggles for mic settings in custom/disabled, except noise suppression which is set to standard
  2. On Windows, apply Equalizer APO on a capture device and add an effects (eg. RNNoise).
  3. Confirm the filter works correctly system-wide (test in Windows, Discord, or Firefox-based apps).
  4. Open Fluxer native desktop app and speak while triggering background noise.
  5. Open Fluxer in a Chromium-based browser and repeat.
  6. Open Fluxer in Firefox, join a voice channel, repeat.
  7. Compare whether the APO filter is audibly applied to your mic in each case.

Observed behaviour

  • Fluxer native app: raw mic, system audio effects (Equalizer APO) are bypassed entirely.
  • Fluxer web app in Chromium (Chrome/Edge): raw mic, same bypass.
  • Fluxer web app in Firefox: mic correctly passes through the system effects filter.

Platform

Details

Expected behaviour The mic signal that reaches the voice channel should include any system-level audio processing applied via Windows standard audio effects pipeline (APOs), consistent across all Fluxer clients, same as how the native Discord client and Firefox both respect these effects.

Can Reproduce Fluxer does not appear to support the default APO option, but LFX/GFX works as a workaround. Not ideal of course, as Discord supports the default settings. - Canary Desktop 2026.1006.171724, Web 2026.1006.190110, Windows 11 10.0.26200 (x64), Electron 44.4.1, Chrome 152.0.7977.78, Node 24.21.0, Locale en-GB
